“Beyond the Call of Duty” is a powerful and emotionally resonant film that honors Filipino men and women in uniform’s unwavering spirit, dedication, and sacrifices. More than just a tribute, it celebrates those who serve with a sense of duty and a genuine heart.
Drawing from true stories and real-life experiences, the film sheds light on the deeply human side of public service—the silent struggles, the quiet resilience, and the unbreakable values of unity and integrity in the face of challenges.
Through compelling storytelling, the film invites audiences into the lives of everyday heroes who rise beyond the expectations of their roles, revealing courageous acts, selfless service to communities, and personal sacrifices that often remain in the shadows.
“Ang pelikula namin ay, siguro mga one year and two months in the making na. Alam ninyo kung bakit? Matagal na namin itong nilalapit sa lahat ng pamunuan na concerning with public safety. Una nating nilapitan ang DILG upang bigyan tayo ng assistance para makalapit dito sa Philippine National Police. 80% of the film is from the PNP, very supportive ang ahensya. Itong ating mga artista, I think 8 months nabuo. ‘Yung iba, hinold ang ibang projects para magawa ang pelikulang ito. Ibig pong sabihin, gustong gusto nila ang kwento nito,” director Jose “JR” Olinares, Jr. opens the story conference of ‘Beyond The Call of Duty’ movie.
The action-drama film stars Martin del Rosario, Paolo Gumabao, Maxine Trinidad, Christian Singson, Devon Seron, Martin Escudero, Migs Almendras, Simon Ibarra, Mark Neumann, Teejay Marquez, Alex Medina, and Jeffrey Santos.
Also starring Ramon Christopher, Dindo Arroyo, Bella Thompson, Rob Sy, Valerie Concepcion, Lovely Rivero, Sharmaine Santiago, Isaac Sabaw, Sahil Khan, Prince Dajuma, and more.
Director JR Olinares seems to be comfortable in the action drama, specifically with stories portraying the lives of men in uniform. His last film released in theaters, ‘The Buy Bust Queen,’ also depicted a story of uniform personnel, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), to be exact. What’s his fascination with these kinds of stories?
“Masarap gumawa ng ganito (action films). Sabi nila, mas masarap gumawa ng mahirap i-shoot. Kasi action, drama, parang ‘yung genre ng movie mo, roller coaster. Pero ‘yung iba kong pelikula, gumawa na ako sa iba’t ibang agency, commercial, released in theaters, gusto ko ito, ito ang aking genre, ito ang gusto kong gawin na uniform personnel film or action man or drama ‘yan, ‘yan ang gusto kong gawin as of now. Ito ang tinututukan ko bilang film director.”
And speaking of action, what can the audience expect from ‘Beyond The Call of Duty’, especially to action movie fans?
“Super action-packed ito. We want this film parang maka-level kahit papaano sa Hollywood. ‘Yun ang aming goal, pasalamat din kami sa PNP, sa lahat ng namumuno sa PNP na ibinigay nila lahat. ‘Yung uniform pa lang, malaking bagay na, paano pa ‘yung mga locations.”
