THE Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB), headed by Chairperson and CEO Lala Sotto, warmly welcomed the appointment of Juan “Johnny” Revilla as the new MTRCB Vice Chairperson and Jose Emeterio “Joey” Romero IV as new Board Member of the Agency.
The appointment papers were signed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. on November 7, 2025.
Sotto administered their oaths of office on Tuesday, November 11, at the MTRCB Nida Blanca Conference Room.
Vice Chairperson Revilla, a respected television and film actor, also served as a representative of the OFW Family Party List in 2013, bringing with him extensive experience from both the entertainment industry and public service.
BM Romero, a film director and the son of the late National Artist for Cinema Eddie Romero, offers his expertise and creative insight from years of experience in the film industry. He previously served as an MTRCB Board Member from 2000 to 2005 and from 2011 to 2018, and is currently a member of the Executive Committee of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) since 2023. He also serves as a member of the MTRCB Appeals Committee under the Office of the President from 2024 to the present.
Sotto expressed her confidence that both appointees will significantly contribute to advancing the Agency’s mandate.
“We are thankful for the appointment of Vice Chairperson Johnny Revilla and Board Member Direk Joey Romero to the MTRCB. Their wealth of experience in media, film\ and public service will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen our programs and advocacy for Responsableng Panonood,” Sotto said.
Sotto also extended her appreciation to former Vice Chairperson Atty. Paulino Cases Jr. for his “unwavering dedication and service to the agency,” acknowledging his contributions to MTRCB’s continued progress.
