LOS ANGELES, CA — Prime Video has officially announced the upcoming feature film adaptation of The Love Hypothesis, based on the New York Times best-selling novel by Ali Hazelwood. Presented by MRC and produced by A Cantillon Company, the film stars Lili Reinhart (Riverdale, Look Both Ways) and Tom Bateman (Based on a True Story, Murder on the Orient Express).
The Love Hypothesis follows Olive (Lili Reinhart), a brilliant Ph.D. candidate hyper-focused on her future in academia. When she realizes her best friend Anh (Rachel Marsh) has fallen for her former crush Jeremy (Nicholas Duvernay), Olive impulsively kisses intimidating professor Adam Carlsen (Tom Bateman) to prove she has moved on. What begins as a desperate act of friendship quickly spirals into a fake relationship complete with strict rules, clear boundaries, and a mutually beneficial agreement. But as their arrangement begins to blur the lines between performance and reality, Olive is forced to test her most daunting hypothesis yet: that love might actually be worth the risk.
Directed by Claire Scanlon (Set It Up, The Office) and written for the screen by Sarah Rothschild (The Sleepover), the project brings together a acclaimed creative team to adapt the viral literary phenomenon.

Joining Reinhart, Bateman, Marsh, and Duvernay in the ensemble cast are Jaboukie Young-White (Only Murders in the Building) and Arty Froushan (Carnival Row).
The film is produced by Elizabeth Cantillon for A Cantillon Company, with MRC serving as the studio. The Love Hypothesis will stream exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
