Tom Hanks Holds the Switch in ‘Inferno’ Teaser Trailer

The film adaptations of Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons have grossed over $1.24 billion dollars in the worldwide box office, so it was only a matter of time before another of Brown’s Robert Langdon books was adapted to push the franchise closer to $2 billion. The fourth book in the series, Inferno, has now been adapted and is slated for release later this year.

In advance of the first trailer for the film, Sony Pictures has released a teaser setting up the main question of the plot. While it doesn’t give much away, it will likely leave viewers wanting to find out more about the overall story of the film.

The teaser offers a few glimpses of the movie’s action, while informing viewers about a mysterious switch. If the switch is thrown, half of the people on Earth will die. If it’s not, then the human race will be extinct in 100 years. The teaser then cuts off with the words “Would you throw the switch?” and prompts viewers to answer the question on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
