There’s no denying that remakes or reboots in films or even in TV series are a thing nowadays, and with AlDub (Alden Richards + Maine Mendoza) having their first solo film as a love team, the fans and some of the producers thought that maybe a remake of a beloved film is the safest thing for them to do.
During the bloggers conference for their upcoming movie, director Michael “Mike” Tuviera, Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards answered questions about the film.
“This was the perfect time. One year in the making.” – Alden Richards
How was the concept of the story/film developed?
“When it was finally decided na gagawa talaga ng Aldub movie, ilan yung pinrepare namin na concepts, it all catered to Alden and Maine. Kasi we felt na we knew them well enough kung ano yung mga strengths nila.
One of my early suggestions was to NOT DO A REMAKE, kasi ‘yun yung number one na suggestion ng mga tao. Sabi ko noon, I’m not gonna do a remake because Aldub, Alden and Maine deserve more than that, they deserve something original, and they deserve something written for them.”
Trivia: “The idea of shooting in Como, Italy, that started five years ago. Kasi my father went to Como, tapos na-in love na siya dun sa lugar. And then, he’s been trying to make a movie based in Como ever since then.”
In a way, the three (Tuviera, Mendoza and Richards) thought that the film is destined for them. One year after the phenomenal “Kalyeserye” started and that the idea of filming a movie in Como is finding its story, then Aldub came.

How can Gara’s faith in destiny and Andrew’s indifference towards relationships help them understand and see love in a different way?
