Angela Lansbury Joins “Mary Poppins Returns”

British-American actress Angela Lansbury (Beauty and the Beast, Mr. Poppers’s Penguins) is the latest addition to the cast of Walt Disney Pictures’ Mary Poppins Returns, the sequel to the 1964 Mary Poppins Movie starring Julie Andrews.


Lansbury will play the Balloon Lady, a character in PL Travers’ original childrens’s book.

The cast also includes Emily Blunt (Into The Woods, The Devil Wears Prada), Lin-Manuel Miranda (Moana), Ben Wishaw (Spectre, Paddington), Emily Mortimer (Hugo), and Julie Walters (Harry Potter series) with Colin Firth (The King’s Speech) and Meryl Streep (Florence Foster Jenkins).

In addition, Dick Van Dyke plays Mr. Dawes Jr., the chairman of Fidelity Fiduciary Bank, which is now run by William Weatherall Wilkins (Firth).
Directed and produced by Oscar nominee, Emmy and Rob Marshall (Into the Woods, Chicago), Mary Poppins Returns also introduces three new Banks children, played by Pixie Davies (Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children), Nathanael Saleh (Game of Thrones) and newcomer Joel Dawson.

The film is slated to open in US Theatres Christmas 2018 and is expected to arrive in Philippine cinemas January 2019.
