Live-Action “Lion King” Movie Casts James Earl Jones & Donald Glover

Director Jon Favreau announced on Twitter that James Earl Jones will reprise his role as Mufasa, which he voiced in the original 1994 animated film.

Also announced on the director’s Twitter account was Donald Glover (The Martian) playing Simba.

Favreau directed the live-action adaptation of The Jungle Book last year, so this may come as no surprise if the team (Disney-Favreau) can pull off another cinematic event that is the live-action adaptation of The Lion King.

No details on the release date yet but it will most likely be a 2018 or 2019 release.
