New Line Cinema, the sister studio of Warner Bros Pictures which is also its distributor has set a July 13, 2018 US release date for The Conjuring 2 spin-off The Nun.
The horror film will be sharing the same release date with the Sony Pictures Animation’s Hotel Transylvania 3 starring the voices of Adam Sandler and Selena Gomez and another animated film Amusement Park starring the voices of Mila Kunis, Matthew Broderick and Jennifer Garner.
Corin Hardy, who previously directed the animated short Butterfly, music videos, horror film The Hallow, and is attached to directing the reboot of The Crow, will direct The Nun.
Written by Gary Dauberman and James Wan, and produced by Wan and Peter Safran, The Nun will be the second Conjuring spinoff after Annabelle, which itself has a sequel coming on August 11, 2017 (US release). The Conjuring films and Annabelle have already earned a combined $895 million worldwide. Costing just $20 million to make, The Conjuring earned $318 million worldwide in 2013. The sequel, made for $40 million, grossed $320 million globally. Annabelle, which cost less than $7 million, earned $257 million in 2014.
