Aicelle Santos Calls “Ang Larawan” a Masterpiece, Feels Honored to Be Part of the Film

During the bloggers’ conference for her upcoming concert, we asked Aicelle Santos about the glowing reception of the musical adaptation of “Ang Larawan” which she is part of, and she was excited to tell how she felt being part of the movie.

Aicelle Santos Ang Larawan 01

“Ang Larawan” is a masterpiece. Kasi musika ‘yon ni Ryan Cayabyab. And medyo huli na akong na-cast noon eh. So, when I got into the room, doon ko nakita si Ms. Dulce, Bernardo Bernardo, Celeste Legaspi. Then, you will see nandon din si kuya Ogie (Alcasid), Ms. Zsa Zsa (Padilla), nandun lahat. Uy, mukhang na-swertehan ako dito ah. Very, very honored to be part of Ang Larawan,” Aicelle Santos shares.

Luck is with Aicelle as she joins a stellar cast that has made waves at the recently concluded Tokyo International Film Festival, getting rave reviews from local and international critics. Richard Kuipers of Variety even calls Ang Larawan “beautifully decorated and top-notch in every technical detail.”

“Ang Larawan” is the film adaptation of “Larawan, The Musical”, a 1997 stage translation of “A Portrait of the Artist as Filipino,” National Artist for Literature Nick Joaquin’s three-act play in English published in 1952. It is directed by Loy Arcenas and features music by Ryan Cayabyab and libretto by Rolando Tinio.
