“Maze Runner: The Death Cure” Review: An Emotional Conclusion

MAZE RUNNER: THE DEATH CURE (2018) Review
Directed by Wes Ball

Hollywood today is crowded with adaptations whether its from a novel or comic book. But The Maze Runner series comes as a better-than-most dystopian young adult novels that came after Harry Potter, it managed to be ineteresting, engaging and for the most part, fun.

For its third and final installment, we see Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) trying to rescue one of his closest friend when he entered the Maze Min Ho (Ki Hong Li) with the help of Newt (Thomas Sangster) and Brenda (Rosa Salazar). But more than a well-guarded area, Thomas finds himself confused in difficulties more than he could handle.

What’s different with The Death Cure compared to its predecessors is that it is rather more emotional than you could expect. The friendship that is built in the first two films are now solid and every emotional turn that happens in the final installment has an impact because of what was established.

It may not be as groundbreaking or as hyped as some young-adult-novels-turned-movies, but Maze Runner: The Death Cure is a decent conclusion to a decent franchise. It may not be a memorable one but at least it didn’t end in a low-note, giving the fans and viewers entertainment with a little drama real friends could relate to.
