DARKEST HOUR (2017) Review
Directed by Joe Wright
All right, Gary Oldman have been giving us impeccable performances from his previous movies but as Winston Churchill, it seems he embodied the character so well, it feels as though I am watching the actual Churchill in Joe Wright’s Darkest Hour.
The film showcases not only Oldman’s acting prowess but the film’s ability to tell an iconic person in history in a not-so-boring way. We get to see more than just what the history tells us but also how Churchill made some of his decisions that made him one of the most important persons in history.
It is a remarkable view on what he does best and what he does worst. The speeches are inspiring even if some are just to persuade to inspire. But that is what makes him even more interesting.
Gary Oldman is Winston Churchill and the film takes us more than what we have read and watched before. Something worth watching in a pile of biopics we’ve been getting this awards season.
