Multi-awarded 2019 Filipino drama thriller Babae at Baril (The Girl and The Gun) will stream on Netflix starting June 3, 2021. The film is already listed in the “Coming Soon” section of the streaming giant.

Babae at Baril directed by Rae Red premiered at the QCinema 2019 Film Festival. It won several awards including the Gender Sensitivity Award, Best Director for Rae Red, Best Actress for Janine Gutierrez, JC Santos was nominated for Best Actor and the film got a nomination for Best Artistic Achievement at the said film festival.
The film was also nominated for Best Film at the Osaka Asian Film Festival in 2020.
Gawad Urian awarded the film Best Production Design, Best Editing, Best Cinematography, Best Actress and Best Film for 2020 while Famas awarded the film Best Musical Score, Best Cinematography. Best Production Design and Best Actress in the same year.
Synopsis: A department store saleslady has had enough of being an underdog. One night, she discovers a peculiar-looking gun right on her doorstep. Her life drastically changes as she discovers how much power owning a gun can give her.
The film stars Janine Gutierrez, JC Santos, Elijah Canlas, Felix Roco, Ruby Ruiz, Allan Paule and Archie Adamos, written and directed by Rae Red.
