‘Lightyear’ Review: Pixar takes up the notch on action and adventure

LIGHTYEAR (2022) Review
Directed by Angus MacLane

Offering a fun and heartwarming movie is always Pixar’s forte, but with their latest film, Lightyear, the top animation company takes up the notch on action and adventure.

You seldom appreciate the most important things when they’re gone so appreciate what you have now. That’s probably what I got from watching Pixar’s Toy Story spin-off film.

It’s fun, humorous, action-packed and perfectly mixes the formula of a Pixar movie and a summer blockbuster. Yes, that’s not new for a Pixar film, but Lightyear captures what we need and want from a movie that is showing on the big screen, and more. The whole family, yes including adults will have an absolute time at the cinemas.

The value of friendship, of time, of connection, and of choices, there are a lot of things we can learn from Buzz Lightyear’s adventure. All of these are wrapped in an entertaining and larger-than-life adventure with Chris Evans’ voice perfect as Buzz Lightyear.

4 OUT OF 5 STARS

‘Lightyear’ is now showing in cinemas and IMAX Theatres nationwide from Walt Disney Studios. Rated PG by the MTRCB.
