‘Everything About My Wife’ Review: All you need is Jennylyn Mercado

EVERYTHING ABOUT HER (2025) Review
Directed by Real S. Florido

If you’re looking for reasons to watch ‘Everything About My Wife’ in the cinema, you actually only need one: Jennylyn Mercado.

With her screen presence, comedic timing, and ability to make you sympathize with her character, Jennylyn Mercado effortlessly transforms into her character, Imo. There’s a connection between her character and the audience every time she appears on the screen. Her humor and dilemma are infectious.

Dennis Trillo and Sam Milby add charm here. Dennis, with his naive and goody husband, while Sam being the bad-boy-next-door everyone wants to sleep with. The dynamics of the three are there; they make do of what the story offers and portray their characters well.

There are many ideas thrown in here. Some worked, some didn’t, but the film as a whole is entertaining. You get what you expect: romance, comedy, and some sexy time (thanks to Dennis Trillo’s sunflower). You just hope that the ideas being thrown as a scene have a better build-up and a better way of telling. You understand all the intention of the scenes, but they don’t feel as cohesive as they could be.

What also bothered me, though, was the ending. The story they want to tell and the way it was told did not fit their chosen ending. It felt abrupt and will leave you hanging with questions. I know that that may not be a bad thing but it was something I didn’t expect and felt like it could work for another story.

‘Everything About My Wife’, while being a remake of a Korean movie, feels very Filipino. It definitely caters to romcom junkies, thanks to the performances of its cast. However, the audience might find some scenes disjointed despite its loaded story.
