SHROUD, an independent supernatural drama-horror film centered on the lives of Filipino migrants in Tokyo, has officially wrapped filming and entered post-production.
Starring award-winning Filipina actress Stefanie Akashi, the film is co-written and co-directed by Dario Caamaño and John Cairns. The story follows a Filipino caregiver with second sight and her brother, who gets dragged into a risky heist to clear his gambling debts. The plan? Rob a local gangster whose shady business involves cleaning out the homes of the recently deceased. Naturally, the break-in unleashes something far darker than just a criminal dispute.
Part crime drama and part supernatural thriller, SHROUD puts foreign workers front and center, tackling themes of survival, debt, isolation, and the invisible lives of migrants in Japan.
With post-production now underway, the filmmakers plan to roll out release dates, full cast lists, and first-look images in the coming months.
