EVEREST (2015) Review
Directed by Baltasar Kormákur
A heart-stopping and heartbreaking film that doesn’t oversell the theatrics needed for a satisfying (3D) movie experience. Although few of the cast get to have a decent character development, its striking take on the 1996 Mount Everest tragedy is profound. The beautiful shots of the mountains justifies the contrast of how dangerous and yet a monumental achievement it is to climb the highest mountain on Earth.
Jason Clarke gives a tremendous performance giving life to the late mountaineer Rob Hall, while Jake Gyllenhaal, Keira Knightley and Josh Brolin doesn’t mind being support and surely made their presence felt as they go on screen. The 3D gives you a vertiginous thrills that adds to the movie’s mountain climbing experience.
