#MMFF2016: Erik Matti’s Atmospheric Horror Film “Seklusyon”

Known for his critically acclaimed films like Honor Thy Father starring John Lloyd Cruz and On The Job starring Piolo Pascual, Gerald Anderson and Joel Torre, writer / producer / director and occasionally actor Erik Matti is back with a horror film Seklusyon that looks like it will haunt you after seeing it.

Watch the trailer here:

Not that a walking statue is something new, but that was creepy. Matti isn’t new to horror films, in fact, he did Pa-Siyam back in 2004 with Roderick Paulate and Cherry Pie Picache as the stars of the film and a short film titled Vesuvius in 2012. He also did an action horror film Tik Tik: The Aswang Chronicles in 2012 starring Dingdong Dantes which was followed by a sequel Kubot: The Aswang Chronicles 2 in 2014. The Aswang Chronicles is rumored to end with a third film, but no news yet of its production.

Here’s the official synopsis of Seklusyon:

It is said that the last seven days before ordination is the most dangerous for deacons. The devil will haunt and tempt them out of priesthood so the church sends them into a strict house of seclusion where they will be kept safe and far from worldly desires. But when a  little girl reputed to be a “messenger of God” and a nun, serving as her guardian enters, rules of the house are broken one by one as each deacon faces their demons in a battle to guard their faith.
