p style=”text-align:center;”>LIFE (2017) Review
Directed by Daniel Espinosa
When we read “horror sci-fi thriller,” we immediately think of Ridley Scott’s classic monster movie Alien, and sure Daniel Espinosa’s space-thriller is one of the closest to the film in that genre.
The film may take some sequences from other space movies like Gravity and of course, as mentioned above, Alien. Or you may even think that one particular moment was like James Cameron’s Titanic but Life brings back the real horror in space thrillers as it definitely delivers what it promised: effective scares and thrills.
The story is your typical science experiment, searching for life outside Earth gone wrong. But it is decently told, the scares are effectively mounted and the actors are excellent. Ryan Reynolds is both funny and charming, Rebecca Ferguson has one of the best face and voice in cinema right now, and she acts effectively as well as Jake Gyllenhaal who, you may think, has done an astronaut role already.
This is one of those suspenseful rides you get to experience inside the cinema. The story might give you a familiar feel but there’s enough blood, thrills and visually amazing sequences that will keep you on your seat until its explosive ending.
