“Ang Manananggal sa Unit 23B” Nationwide Release Has Changes & Additional Scenes

After its successful run at the QCinema International Film Festival, Prime Cruz’s Ang Manananggal sa Unit 23B is finally getting its nationwide release. But what’s in it for those who have already seen it?

According to producer Perci Intalan of The IdeaFirst Company, there are changes and additional scenes for the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino or the nationwide release of Ang Manananggal sa Unit 23B, as this is a different audience. The QCinema audience would take the entries of the film festival as an art film rather than a commercial film so some changes took into consideration for the nationwide release that would have a mass appeal. Even director Jun Robles Lana posted on Instagram about the redux cut of the film with the caption:

“Just saw the redux cut of Prime Cruz’s “Ang Manananggal Sa Unit 23B” and I still can’t get over how good it is. Featuring a new edit, score and newly shot scenes, I couldn’t be prouder of the results. I dare say it’s Direk Prime’s finest film to date. It truly takes a village to make a film and we couldn’t have done this without the help of everyone who worked hard and lost sleep to make this happen AGAIN. #amsu23b #redux

So if you’ve already seen the film on its QCinema run, there’s still a reason to see it when it opens in cinemas nationwide this August.
