Netflix Announces Japanese Animation Film ‘A Whisker Away’

A new Japanese animated film is coming our way via streaming giant ‘Netflix.’ Check out the trailer for ‘A Whisker Away’ and see it on Netflix starting June 18.

From Sailor Moon director Junichi Satoh and Anohana writer Mari Okada comes A Whisker Away, an anime film about love, magic, and cats.

Miyo Sasaki, nicknamed “Muge” meaning “infinitely mysterious,” has a bright personality and is full of energy at school and at home. She is also secretly in love with her classmate Kento Hinode. Miyo tries repeatedly to get Kento’s attention, but he takes no notice of her. She realizes that the only way to get close to him is to transform into a cat, but at some point, the boundary between herself and the cat becomes ambiguous, and she is forced to give up her life as a human…

The film stars the voices of Mirai Shida (the main cast of Ghibli’s “The Secret World of Arrietty”, cast of Ghibli’s “The Wind Rises”), Natsuki Hanae (main cast of “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” and “Tokyo Ghoul”), Koichi Yamadera (main cast of “Ghost in the shell: SAC_2045) and more. Directed by Junichi Satoh and Tomotaka Shibayama. Written by Mari Okada (“Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day”, “The Anthem of the Heart”) and produced by Twin Engine for Studio Colorido.
