Family, Secrets, and Beautiful Chaos: Netflix PH Reveals First Look at ‘Ganito, Ganyan, Ganoon’
Get ready for a healthy dose of heart, humor, and relatable household tension. Netflix Philippines has officially unveiled the key art for Ganito, Ganyan, Ganoon, its highly anticipated family dramedy of the year.
At the heart of this chaotic family portrait are two of the country’s most celebrated dramatic powerhouses: Jodi Sta. Maria and Agot Isidro, playing an estranged mother and daughter forced to face their past.
The newly released key art features a scenic, sun-drenched beach photo of a classic Filipino extended family. While it captures a seemingly picture-perfect moment, the pristine visual hints at the deeper, unresolved complications simmering just beneath the surface.

Unpacking the Drama: The Mother-Daughter Dynamic
Directed by Cholo H. Laurel, Ganito, Ganyan, Ganoon centers on Joanne “Jo” (Sta. Maria), a successful television writer on the cusp of a career-defining breakthrough. Her structured life is thrown entirely off-course when her mother, Paz (Isidro), unexpectedly returns to the Philippines after decades of living in New York.
This sudden reunion forces Jo to confront deeply buried childhood traumas—the very wounds that shaped her guarded adult personality. Reflecting on her character’s defense mechanisms, Jodi Sta. Maria shares:
“She’s accomplished, she’s intelligent, she’s very strong, but the question is ‘why’? What motivated this character to be the way she is?”
Opposite her, Agot Isidro breathes life into Paz, a formidable matriarch carrying heavy secrets of her own. Paz’s mysterious life in the US becomes a puzzle that her daughter must gradually piece together over the course of the film.

A Celebration of “Perfectly Imperfect” Families
Instead of leaning solely on traditional melodrama, Ganito, Ganyan, Ganoon explores the unique “dysfunctions” that define the modern Filipino family experience—the friction that divides us, and the undeniable bonds that ultimately pull us back together.
Speaking at the Next on Netflix Philippines preview event earlier this year, director Cholo H. Laurel praised the streaming platform’s commitment to authentic storytelling:
“They were willing to give it the creative freedom that we needed to be able to stay faithful to the vision.”
An All-Star Ensemble Cast
The stellar lead performances are elevated by an equally compelling ensemble of familiar faces. The film boasts a talented supporting cast that includes Gabriel Lazaro, Gardo Versoza, Ruby Ruiz, RK Bagatsing, Mitch Valdez, and Angel Aquino, all of whom bring their own unique flavor to the family dynamic.
By blending bittersweet moments of profound love, quiet resentments, hilarious family antics, and lingering regrets, Ganito, Ganyan, Ganoon promises to be a deeply authentic, chaotic, and heartwarming portrait of the quintessential Filipino family.
Ganito, Ganyan, Ganoon premieres globally on August 13, exclusively on Netflix.
