PHILIPPINES — Basketball fever swept the Philippines on Thursday morning as Disney+ tipped off the 2026-27 NBA season with a live watch party for one of the year’s most anticipated matchups: the Golden State Warriors facing off against the Los Angeles Lakers.

The marquee game streamed live as part of Disney+ Philippines’ Super Sports Week (October 19–25), marking the official local launch of ESPN on Disney+. The new offering brings high-definition broadcasts, game commentary, and expert analysis directly to fans, alongside the platform’s regular lineup of movies and family entertainment.
Under its new local campaign slogan, Ito ang Homecourt Mo! (“This is Your Homecourt!”), ESPN on Disney+ aims to give Filipino sports fans a single hub for the games, stories, and moments they follow daily. Subscribers can stream live events, catch up on replays, and watch studio panel discussions and sports documentaries all in one place.
Beyond opening week, subscribers can catch every Christmas Day matchup—including a Finals rematch between the San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks, plus LeBron James leading the Lakers against his former team, the Philadelphia 76ers. The coverage extends right through the postseason, covering the First Round, Conference Semifinals, and Conference Finals. The Western Conference Finals will stream live on Disney+, while the Eastern Conference Finals and the NBA Finals will be available on demand shortly after play finishes.
Alongside live coverage, fans can tune into ESPN studio shows and official league programming, including NBA Tip-Off, Inside the NBA, NBA Countdown, NBA Today, and NBA Action.
Subscribers can access the new ESPN hub directly through the updated Disney+ app.
