SINISTER 2 (2015) Review
Directed by Ciaran Foy

The film is surprisingly tame. All the dangers that built the suspense in the first one isn’t felt here anymore. Sinister 2 is ordinary, it does have an interesting premise going back to the roots of Bughuul but it doesn’t pay off. The film sure does have a story to tell, but it’s not worth telling for it to actually be made. Even the jump scares doesn’t work anymore.

The eerie atmosphere is there but it’s not used for the film’s profit. There’s a lot of time for building up with the ghost children but it doesn’t get to be scary at some point. Maybe a sequel isn’t necessary at all, the first one directed by Scott Derrickson puts effective scares into play and put up a story that wants to explore something. This sequel just tells a story of a mother and her two sons trying to build a life in a house that is supposed to be haunted. Either they’re just too lazy to make it scary or they were just going for ordinary family drama in a creepy location.
