RINGS (2017) Review
F. Javier Gutierrez
Twelve years after The Ring Two comes a confused rehashed sequel that was intended to bring back the franchise for possible new installments – Rings.
Apparently, twelve years wasn’t enough to create a decent script for a popular character that has been used to scare since 2000s. Rings is disappointing as it was a missed opportunity, as the franchise already has a big following and horror films today are getting more impressive and more effective not just in scaring but also in creating a decent story.
The color of the film already gives its look a scary feeling, but that’s just that, it doesn’t go far from there. It doesn’t even use cheap jump scares or build up something horrifying for the horror film lovers. It’s that, an unfortunate and boring installment of what should have been something even the fans could enjoy. But it’s a waste of time and money.
