“Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes” Review: Love Truly, Crazily Wins

ANG DALAWANG MRS. REYES (2018) Review
Directed by Jun Robles Lana

So what if your husband is having an affair with another married guy? That’s the crazy premise of Jun Robles Lana’s latest film Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes. But the biggest take here in the film is that Judy Ann Santos and Angelica Panganiban are together in not a drama film but rather a comedy film.

The film is an unadulterated fun fueled by the hilarious performances of Judy Ann Santos and Angelica Panganiban. It’s a delight to see the two acting together in a story that’s not usual in Philippine cinema. Because not only that it tackles the LGBT theme, it goes beyond that that the film is explaining the confusion between the variety of gender we have today.

It’s colorful, it’s fun, it’s outrageous. Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes keeps your interest as soon as the film starts and gives you surprises along the way. If you want to see a loose Judy Ann Santos and Angelica Panganiban, who curses and does something big, this is the film to see. Its take on love beyond gender, beyond the limits of tradition is on point. On forgiving, on being reckless when angry, on finding answers to hard questions, the film gets everything right. If only the fun didn’t run out, the film would have been a riot until the end. But overall, it was really fun.
