Minions (2015) Review 3.5/5 Not as enjoyable as the first two Despicable Me films but still has the fun and charms the Minions usually provides. Minions finally isn’t just a side show of the movie but the main attraction that the two Despicable Me films made them to be. Though it isn’t as heartfelt or …

Magic Mike XXL (2015) Review 3/5 Simpler, looser and has more dance routine than its predecessor but it is also less intimate and less engaging. Magic Mike XXL draws more entertainment in the table with riskier dance routines as the finale is a big scandalous exhibition of sorts. The film opens in a slow and …
The Thieves (2012) Review 3.5/5 There’s a reason why The Thieves is one of the highest-grossing films in Korea, the movie is entertaining from start to finish. It’s a stylish heist film with a pinch of everything else from comedy, romance to action. Though it’s quite lengthy, it keeps things interesting and thrilling with an …
Terminator: Genisys (2015) Review 2.5/5 Average Hollywood popcorn flick. Terminator Genisys invests too much on the big action sequences the story could offer but it forgets to carefully write other and better (but anticlimactic) options the film could have gone. There’s a lot of time-travelling sequences that only worsens how these characters’ intelligence supposed to …
The Breakup Playlist (2015) Review 3.5/5 Squeezing in melodramatic confrontation scenes makes the characters feel less authentic and less sincere. But the narrative is constructed decently with the usual Star Cinema formula. The Breakup Playlist is better than the recent Star Cinema films but it still provides inappropriate confrontation scenes and clichéd family story lines …
An Kubo sa Kawayanan (2015) Alvin Yapan 5/5 With director Alvin Yapan’s filmography, you know you’re in for something bizarre and An Kubo Sa Kawayanan is definitely a Yapan film. A daring piece of art that pushes the audience’s thoughts to think big in small things. The intricacy of the story, the characters and the …
Movie Review: I Love You. Thank You. 4/5 Branded not as a gay film but a love story. I Love You. Thank You is far more than just a gay film or a love story. The process of the film is intimately guided through the longing, the pain and the “what ifs.” Gohetia clearly knows how …
MAX (2015) 3/5 Unbelievable as it may look as the story progresses, Max means well. A family film that doesn’t just go “awwww” for dog and companion moments but is also a thrilling adventure of a found bond between a boy and a dog. Max has a lot of spirit and heart but you can’t …
