REGRESSION (2015) Review
Directed by Alejandro Amenabar
It’s not what you expect from a horror film as the film is hardly scary, but it has some interesting subject tackled that turned it into a psychological thriller. It’s nice to see a different Emma Watson though. She and Ethan Hawke performs well even though the film lacks tension and scares. It doesn’t go beyond its potential, leaving the audience nothing to hold on to after leaving the cinemas.
Regression is a generic horror film wanna-be that fails to give even just one scare, but it doesn’t fail to compliment the talents of Watson, Hawke and Thewlis. One can’t help but express their disappointment by its potential, not just the story but also what the actors and the director could’ve done if only the story have gone further to actually achieve its full potential not just as a horror film but also in embracing the psychological issues it tackled.
OUR RATING: 2.5 out of 5 Stars
