FINAL DESTINATION: BLOODLINES (2025) Review
Directed by Zach Lipovsky, Adam Stein
Fans of the franchise will be happy to know that the newest installment of the Final Destination series doesn’t hold back on gore and its staging and pulling off of its deaths. ‘Final Destination: Bloodlines’ introduces a new era of trauma to its audience. The film has some of the best and most twisted death scenes in the franchise. You’ll be carefully on the edge of your seat while watching. Welcome to the stress-inducing sounds of doors closing, knives unsheathing, coins dropping and other unexciting sounds that can actually be the last one you’ll hear.
While the movie is entertaining, what made me love the previous installments, especially the most recent one, was because of its spontaneity. The deaths were shocking, even if you know the death scene is about to happen, it still feels unexpected. But with ‘Bloodlines,’ the story sort of hijacks that with overthinking of the possibilities of the deaths. For me, it kind of lessens the fun, but it’s a welcome change.
It took 11 years to have another Final Destination film, even if the last one was the best. But with what they had done with ‘Bloodlines,’ the Final Destination feels reinvigorated. Even with six installments, they still have ideas for the audience, especially the new generation, to enjoy and unlock new traumas.
‘Final Destination Bloodlines’ feels like a work that boomers and millennials will be proud of showing to the new generations. It’s fun, some of the deaths are inventive, it’s campy in a good way, and definitely worth conversing after watching. It’s the type of film that deserves your time and money and maybe even a second watch.
