Pepe Herrera has been a household name already because of his movies and TV shows. He has played numerous characters that touched the viewers’ hearts with his charisma and sincere performance.
That’s why it’s no wonder why director Jose Javier Reyes specifically chose Pepe as the lead actor for the horror-comedy movie ‘Bantay-Bahay’ and that he pattered the character to him.
“Ang kwento sa akin ni direk Joey one time while we are having a good time, nagba-bonding kami, maraming beses nangyari kasi maaga kami natatapos. So, nandun kami nabanggit ko sa kanya sabi ko, “direk, aaminin ko sa’yo, ‘nung first kinakabahan ako, intimidated ako, ready na ako masigawan ‘pag nagkamali ako, ine-expect ko na ‘yun. Tapos nagulat ako na sobrang smooth ng shoot natin, sobrang dali katrabaho. Tapos sabi niya, ‘Pepe, ‘wag kang magagalit ah. I wrote the story for you.’ Tapos nakakatawa ‘yung DOP (director of photography), pag tingin ko umiiyak na. Sobrang na-touch sa sinabi ni direk. Napanood ako ni direk Joey sa The Hopeful Romantic. Tapos nung napanood niya ako, sabi niya swak si Pepe sa binubuo kong kwento. Tapos nung sinusulat niya, I guess he patterned it (my character) to my personality. Siyempre nakakakilig,” shares Pepe during the media conference of his movie.
